first tournament today

hey guys, i'm a fox main and i've not been playing smash for too long but today i'm entering a local tournament just to see what it's like, the only issue is i don't have a wii u and the tournament is set on that console, so are there any differences between the 3ds and the wii u version i should be wary of? there'll be GC adapters there so i'm not too worried about the controls, but have any of the characters changed or the general feel of the game? as i've never played it for the wii u

and a quick side note, are there any characters in particular that crop up at tournaments that i need to watch out for?

These characters are tough and annoying to fight when play as fox. Be aggressive and keep your eyes pealed for these characters, and Good Luck!

Both versions are essentially the same.
The tournament you entered is probably already over (seeing you posted this quite a while ago), but I hope you did well. From that experience you can learn what to expect in the future.

hey guys, managed to get like top 6 out of about 28 players so it was pretty good, funny you mentioned mario dr. megaman because i got knocked into losers by a dr mario and then knocked out the tournament by a mario, sucked but i'm happy with the result seeing as it's my first tournament. in the end a bowser player absolutely destroyed everyone, it was a sight to see
