So, I've decided to start a tournament in my area, because there's almost no comptetitive scene here, so my group decided to try and make one.

What advice do you have for a first time tournament?

We have a venue but it's a little small, and we don't know if we do a 16-man or a 24-man bracket, because we could only get one setup (we have a lot of time, tho). Also, our ruleset is a llittle experimental, allowing stages like Mario Kart 8, Wuhu Island, Skyloft and Kongo Jungle 64.

Anyway, I will appreciate some suggestions

For first time tournaments 16-24 man bracket sounds great. Though I suggest you bring more setups but if you have a lot of time and people are willing to wait that's cool. With rulesets you can do offical or your own but if nobody agrees with yours they may not play. That's my advise atm but i'll update more later.

Edit: If you make a facebook group or a smashboards group you could get some more people to come to your tournaments and make your scene bigger.

Yeah, I thought the same about the setups, and I'm going to try and see if we can get at least one more. About the ruleset, i don't think we will have a problem, because most of the smashers here prefer uto figt up close and personal and always approach, even if the stage promotes camping, but we will leave the ruleset open to discussion, tho.

We already have a facebook grop, and we are looking to get it promoted by the local gaming store. How do you make a smashboards group?

Anyway, thanks for the advice, i'ts really useful!

With Smashboards groups you can either make a thread for your area if there is not one up or you can go to here on Groups and make your own and people can join you can post tournaments updates etc.

To make a group you could pick your game and then make social group then put in the info and stuff and you can set it where people can join or you have to invite them or they can request to join etc.

Np i'm more then happy to help :D. Do you main the TO's? Ya you guys can play but some TO's don't play cause they want to focus on the tournaments organizing. If you have a few extra you can either say they can't play or if the bracket can still even out with them in it they can still play.
