It’s cool to just pound on them, but why not listen to the music that’s playing? Press buttons in time to the beat to really get things hopping.
DK's Final Smash is his bongos and it seems that you can press buttons corresponding to the beat. I think that would be interesting, because it would make it a little more involving, rather than the process of just grabbing a smash ball and watching the little five second cutscene.

Could other characters' Final Smashes be interactive as well? I wouldn't mind that. I could imagine Mario's Final Smash having you to charge up by rotating the analog stick or mashing buttons, or Link's having you press corresponding buttons on the screen to build up a combo of slashes. What do you guys think?

well we know we can at least slowly aim Samus's lazer of doom. you are the one fighting with giga bowser. you have to chose the best spot to fire for Mario. you have to aim Pikachu's and time it to not going flying to your doom.

so I say you are right.

Yep kind of like in a Dragonball Z game I played... SPECIAL BEAM CANNON.. and we had to charge it up.

Link's can be pressing A really fast or moving the analog stick really fast left and right.

That's quite a cool feature. I'm guessing with DK's, actually synching the buttons to the beat make you deal out more damage than if you randomly mashed.

But yeah, i could definitely see more being interactive. Maybe not all of them, but a few.

well that might not be a good idea.

would it be fair if, for DK you have to work at synching the buttons with the on screen commands to get a powerful smash and for mario you dont do anything?

I dont know how that would work...

all

I didn't really think about that, to be honest. There's no way of knowing for know, so it's all just speculation.

EDIT - Unless this means something, from the update: "Feel the rhythm and increase the power!"

If it is so, you're right, it wouldn't be fair, but each character is different. Maybe some final smashes are faster than others, but less powerful. Perhaps it's possible to escape DK's before you get dealt damage?

EDIT - I was actually thinking about it the opposite way to you. Instead of DK having a weak FS and the player having to put effort in to make it good, i imagined it as alrady powerful, and the button inputs to make it even more powerful.

Or something like Naruto's move system
One player does a sequence of buttons to do damage.
Victim does a sequence to reduce damage.

Like a scale, who can press the button the fastest in the set amount of time to judge the damage.

I haven't really noticed the interactivity in the Final Smashes until you mentioned it. I know it might be unfair that DK seems like it can be more powerful with his bongos, but hopefully they level it out somehow (like smash_fan said).

And I hope that you can grab the Smash ball but not use it right away. And if you could choose when to use it, what button would you press? Or it could be a combo of buttons which actually makes more sense.

I think every final smash needs to you do something. From what we've seen, they all do.
Bower: You have to walk around to kill people.
Pika: You have to move around to kill people.
DK: You have to press buttons.
Link's looks like you would have to time buttons to get the most slashes possible and the most damage. The only thing I can't say anything about is Mario's...I don't see how that would involve pressing stuff.

Interactive FS (Besides transformations, etc) should only be used to give an extra power boost forr lazy people like me to be able to sit back and enjoy the show.
