I'm thinking final fantasy for SSBB. The first 6 final fantasies were on nintendo systems even though only three of them released in US originally. Think about it, the stages would rule, characters would be tight and items and AT's (more 8-bit AT's?) would be cool as well. I am surprised this hasn't been brought up and if it has, i am sorry i searched and didn't see it.

Discuss. :)

Actually all of the Final Fantasy's I-VI has been released on a Nintendo System/Handheld in America since everything but III was released here prior to the release of Wii, and even before Wii came out FFIII was released on the DS so everything is here, and everything has been in Japan for a while, so anything goes when it comes to Brawl due to the fact that Japan-only chars are eligible for Brawl status since Nintendo is in JAPAN

the final fantasies I-VI were released in japan before US, just like mario games and kirby games. Square is JAPAN.

Yes that is well known fact

You're missing the point

Look at when Brawl was in devolpment with involvment of original chars (not clones) between October 05 - May 07 (at the latest) look on google to find out when the Final Fantasy games were released in Japan and in Americas and you will see the Final Fantasy's I-VI were released on a Nintendo Console/Handheld before Sakurai was finished adding original chars

but FF I-VI were on NES and SNES in japan in the 1980's-1990's (FFVII the first non-nintendo final fantasy was released in 1997). The handhelds were ports such as super mario bros for GBA released way later such as in the time period you are describing. Final fantasy III was the only one released in The US and japan on DS in 3D way after it's original release on the NES (famicom) because it was quote, "too hard for U.S. gamers."

Yes i clearly understand

Again you are misconstrewing everything that i am stating

Let me simplify it for you

Have all the Final Fantasy's between 1-6 been released in US and Japan regardless of when it was originally released in Japan

The answer is YES

I think you guys should know this but Square Enix is making a Final Fantasy Smash Brothers a.k.a Final Fantast Dissidia. They are, pretty much, copying stuff from SSB which I think is just stupid.

Brawl is better than that game so don't get it.

Well... the issue of square soft characters has in fact been brought up many, many times. Anytime that you're surprised that your search didn't bring anything up probably means that you just couldn't find it and it's there, as the forums have pretty much talked about every known and obscure video games ever.

So, the thing is, Square Enix is a third party company, meaning that arrangements would have to be worked out in between Nintendo and Square. While I think a lot of 3rd party characters would say "Oh, man, of course you can put our stuff in your game, that's absolutely great advertising for us!" it's still something that needs to be worked out.

But... still. It'd be cool, I rather enjoyed the feel of the pre-FF7 games. I don't think I'd like to see them in sprite form, however- I'd love to see the characters brought to full 3D form based on that FF artist's stylish sketches. The actual graphics of final fantasy weren't too iconic, and would just seem more impressive updated... except with maybe the very first FF games. If all the FF1 characters jumped onto the stage 8-bit style and started tearing up the place... awesome.

Actually Final Fantasy Dissidia isn't copying anything from SSB

Its an original game that looks like the battles that were in Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children

Nothing even resembles Smash in the slightest, watch the trailer again and then tell me that you think that it is even close to Smash

None of the Final Fantasy chars will be playable at all in Brawl

Reasoning behind this - Sakurai stated that there would only be 1 or 2 more 3rd party character added into Brawl besides Snake........... then Miyamoto and Sakurai stated that Sonic was the most requested 3rd party char in both US and Japan... if Sega had given the rights over to Nintendo to add him in, then that would leave 1 more slot open for 3rd party........... and i highly doubt that Square's Final Fantasy Chars would even have a shot at getting in... the only Square char that has the shot of getting in would be Geno and that's it

other Chars that are high on the list include:

Megaman
Simon Belemont
Banjo-Kazooie

and a couple others of 3rd party, but they aren't as high as these 3, and again in Sega gave Nintendo the rights to use Sonic then only 1 3rd part char would make it in

first off, I want to say this:

dissidia is NOT ssb in the slightest. the only resemblance it has is that SE characters cross over.

anyway, if I had to choose any FF character, then I'd be have to choose either:

black mage
the party (generic FF party, works like pokemon trainer/ice climbers)
cloud strife (unlikely, but I can dream, can I?)

as for ATs:
bahamut FTW!

Yes I agree. To bad it's coming out for PSP because I'll probably never own one, assuming the game is good I would definately like to play it.

Well, it'd be cool to have old FF characters as ATs going around... having Cecil, or Black Mage, or the myriad of other characters in them would be a nice homage to old SNES days.

Of course, if this is so, I demand a FFVI AT, on the grounds of it being the best title in the saga. Preferably Terra, because she's made of awesome.

I'd personally like to say "How 'bout nah?" to any FF characters, just because the feel of just doesn't seem to fit, similar to Geno or Megaman. (I don' wantSonic either, buhe's actually possible to picture in)

Besides, I like poking fun at FF and FF fans, and that would dash my career.
