file extension issues

i've got a ton of videos on my camera that i've been trying to get up and not succeeding. the problem is that when i use flash to edit the video (something necessary because otherwise there's no sound) the final form is in .swf format, in other words a flash document. youtube doesn't accept .swf. i have seen other flash videos up there however, and i'm wondering how they got there.

if you know of any free converters that handle .swf (don't say media convert or zamzar, tried those they only convert TO .swf) or alternatively any free editing softwares that i can download, please tell me
