Smash Rookie
Hello Smashboards. I'm here because for years and years the Smash games, while fun, have frustrated me as huge fighting game fan. I love games like King of Fighters, Guilty Gear, Soul Calibur, BlazBlue, and Persona 4 Arena. But even though I've played every Smash game since the N64, I've never been able to take them seriously due to the drastically different physics and play style.
Well, recently I've really started to get into the Smash scene seriously and try my very best to improve, understand, and become competent at Smash 4. I've been trying to do my homework and learn the tricks and techniques involved in the competitive Smash 4 scene, and to be honest, it's kind of intimidating. Maybe I'm interpreting things wrong, but Smash seems like a lot of learning odd game exploits that allow you to move and fight in ways not really intended to get an advantage over things that the developer set in place like end lag for moves and improved mobility. I suppose things have been this way forever now, I'm just only now trying to adapt and learn how to be competitive.
Ever since N64 Smash I've used mainly Pikachu. I don't really know why, that's just who I've always liked to use. I still use him today in WiiU/3DS Smash, but I have so much trouble landing killing blows with him that I've tried branching out to find another character to main alongside Pikachu, and I've found I really do well with Mario. Also I do love playing as Ryu, since he plays a little closer to the fighting games I'm used to, but in Smash I'm still pretty bad with him. Well, I'm pretty bad with everyone, but you know what I mean.
Anyway, it's nice to be here and I'm reading through the forums hoping to learn more and improve much more than I have just practicing on my own.
