Fighter-style bosses?

Hey guys, I think that SSB4 should include some Fighter-style bosses like Giga Bowser in Melee. Why? Because I don't really like the HP bosses: All I do is spam the same move and just dodge their very predictable attacks. It's really boring imo. But at least with Giga Bowser, there's more depth to it. Though I'd appreciate it if they weren't clones of a character like Giga Bowser was. Still better than the hp boss.

They probably will just stick to the HP bosses. Even though their attacks are bound to be repetitive, you have to think that by creating HP boss battles they have more to show for the game itself. If you watched a trailer of an epic HP boss battle and a trailer of a non-HP boss battle you'd probably have a better opinion of the game with the epic cinematic fight, rather than the simplicity of facing a boss in standard play.

I didn't mean that HP bosses should be replaced, I think that it should include some fighter-styled ones.

Harder to design, because without a full moveset they'll be outmatched by any player.

Give the bosses some more options to avoid or block attacks.

Brawl's boss battles were epic. Give some stronger and more dangerous attacks to the bosses (perhaps difficulty based) and I'm down for some more Brawl styled bosses.

I think the best bosses from previous games were honestly the fighter bosses. They were closer to the core of the game, but still added a unique element to the fight to change the experience (Metal Mario, Giga Bowser, and Giant D.K. specifically). While I think some of the HP bosses worked fairly well (namely the flying ones like Master Hand), I would like it if the main focus was percentage based. I think ultimately beating around someone like Giga Bowser is always going to feel more satisfying and less scripted than just dashing in and out between Tabuu's attacks.

response for those who think that a boss with a moveset should be a normal character: The point of the bosses is that they have overpowered moves, but they are so huge, which mean that they have bigger hitboxes and maybe slower or something like that. Bosses would still be ok if they were semi-clones. Also bring giga bowser back as a boss. (he could still work as a final smash). Plus, if they made a boss with a unique moveset, they could still make them selectable via a special mode that allows boss characters? I dunno.

I'd like an event like the Giga Bowser one again, so that we have this very hard event that you can strive to beat with as many characters as possibly, but I'd like for it to co-exist with the Brawl-style bosses. I really enjoyed bosses like Porky and Rayquaza, I think it's a good concept, though there's definitely room for improvement. I don't think we need more than one fighter-style boss honestly, just add some akin to Giga Bowser in the last event, and then have the Brawl-style bosses in Adventure Mode and Boss Battles mode.

Yeah, having semi-clone versions of a few of the characters as bosses would be cool.
Giga-Bowser, Phantom Ganon, Masked Dedede and Awakened Mewtwo would all be good choices. Maybe Palutena as a clone of Zelda?

lol imagine a six player match with them 5 as an event. Or how bout replace palutena with another villain, perhaps? it'd make a very hard event.
Not sure about Palutena, but having dark link, samus or dark pit as clones/semi-clones would be pretty cool. how bout in classic/adventure mode, there's a part where you fight one of them?

Fawful makes use of his vacuum-helmet to make spacing an issue for you, as well as attack you with fire balls and dark magic.

Galacta Knight almost pulls directly straight from his moves in the Kirby games, like a recovery that lets him blitz around the battlefield and a barrage of fast attacks.

One idea I'd also really like in seeing Character Bosses is if they could activate their own Final Smashes at given times, like if they reach a certain amount of health. That stuff could really flesh out the bosses are truly boss-like.

Final Smashes for bosses would be interesting.

Galacta Knight has a few attacks that could suit a Final Smash, and perhaps Fawful could turn into a giant version of his Dark Star Core form? (I remember he was larger than Mario and Luigi during the final battle, but still quite small due to being inside Bowser's body)

Not always. BlazBlue and GuiltyGear (among others) have boss versions of their characters that are overpowered versions of their original counterparts. BlazBlue decided to go further and make it to where every playable character has an Unlimited mode to play as. Of course, I don't think those were ever meant to be balanced but partially for lulz.

They can take this approach with the roster. Given the size, it might not be worth it resources wise, It'd make for a fun mode to fight against broken versions of the roster.

As it was mentioned, they've already done this to a degree with the metal boss battles, but I wouldn't quite count those.

Genesect, Dark Samus, Galacta Knight, Masked Man, Fawful and Shake King makes me happy. Good role for K. Rool too if he wouldn't end up being playable, which sad as it would be would be better than just being nothing more than a trophy, and that comes from someone who supported Ridley big time during Brawl and still does. Yes please, this'd be so great, never mind my post from August in this thread.
