I really like the easy way in facebook to just click the group and Bam!... you in your local groups community. But some groups got like 553 people but only 20 of them joining the bi weekly.
In a FGC forums as its perk if you want tell boston community that the New york crew is going to their tournament. Its easy Community to other community friendly, for its con.... well its pretty damn great using a local thread, maybe less people?
