This thread is strictly for Fighting Game Discussion. This is also a thread for people who don't play 2D fighters to be shown how it is. Post any good FG vids you've seen and discuss any FG game. No talk about emulators here.

Just picked up and played Melty Blood. Not so bad, comboing is pretty mashable but the good BnB's has to be memorized. The combos for Satsuki is weird. It goes from you having to press the combination real fast to slowing down and then going fast again.

Another cool thing with this game is that throws are both comboable AND can be blocked. (Command Throws obviously)

Parry/Shielding in that game is pretty similar to Smash/3s. In that Shielding uses one button and you have to time it right but the properties are more similar to 3s except it's a different command. Pretty balanced from what I can see in videos too.

My 3s game has improved a bit lately. Been practicing those Parry -> cr. mk xx sa3 's.

might wanna mark the KOF vids by year; people get mighty pissy about their favorite one and i'm sure nobody wants to "accidentally" end up watching a vid of maximum impact or whatever

anyway what's the deal with arcana heart and akatsuki blitzkampf? i've been hearing the names thrown around all over the place but i don't know a thing about them otherwise, even just a basic idea of what they are and what makes them special would be golden

This should be the thread people should go to for help on fighting games. It looks pretty solid and has a lot of examples (videos) of the games. This thread will hopefully expand SWF to more fighting games and not cause people to make threads like that other one (you know which one...). If you have any questions you can probably ask it here and it'll be answered. You can also contact me via AIM...

AIM SN: Johnny Hazardous

EDIT to pdk: Akatsuki Blitzkampf is a 2D fighting game that is pretty much inspired by the old school Street Fighter II game. It has some comboing but it's not similar to the MvC style of comboing into the air. It also has a reflector which is pretty much like parrying (in 3S) or shielding (in MB).

I haven't gotten to try Arcana Heart before but I've seen a couple videos and it looks like a similar game to Melty Blood but has some different elements. The whole cast is female IIRC... It is also played in SBO so it's probably a pretty decent game if it's in the biggest fighting game tournament in Japan.

EDIT 2: Here is a link to an Akatsuki Blitzkampf wiki:

http://akatsuki.mizuumi.net/index.php/Main_Page

Again I haven't been able to play Arcana Heart and I didn't really get into Akatsuki Blitzkampf because of some people not being able to play it/get their **** ports forwarded...

Here is a link to an Arcana Heart video from SBO5 (the latest Tougeki SBO as of 2007):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=whGYWjWtrFQ

You can check out the poster's profile for more videos of a variety of games. I'm pretty sure the related area will link to the next videos for the Arcana Heart video I just posted.

Yeah, all of those fighters are high quality =] Guilty Gear is great, I really wanna get into that. Love SF3 3s too.. Playing that online is beastly. Still 'attempting' to get into Kof.
We should all play 3s ONLINE! ON LINE! AGAINST EACH OTHER! On LINE!

No emulator talk people!

I really want to get into most, if not all of these but I gotta focus on only a couple... Akatsuki BK would've stayed in my list of current games but some people can't forward ports... <_<

EDIT: Which brings me to another good thing to help people with here. If any of you guys need help forwarding ports you can probably come to me. Forwarding ports is useful for hosting a game on the Melty Blood Re-ACT Final Tuned netplay program or for hosting a Kaillera server/hosting on the new Kaillera P2P client. Here is a link to a good reference if I'm not available:

What do you mean a link for Melty Blood? You have to buy the game or use illegal methods that aren't allowed for discussion here to get the game.

The SRM said:
Q: Where do I get Melty Blood: AC/REact/

A: You can buy them from various places. (Playasia, yesasia, etc.) You could also do some random illegal stuff, which isn't very reccomended.

Nice thread, too bad not alot of people appreciate or would even like to bother with this thread from the looks of it, however here's some vids to throw into the frey.

Jeff (One of the Greatest OG SF2 Players) vs Daigo Umehara (The Beast)

Note: One has to remember this, that Jeff an OG SF2 player who ranked within the Top 3 during the absolute peak of Street Fighter's competetion and height played up against Daigo. You have to know that Daigo was playing on US stick, while Jeff hadn't played SF2 on the competetion lvl for over 10-12+ yrs now, not only that but Jeff was not accustomed to the speed of HSF2, reasons why he said that he couldn't land things right.

However even if that's the case, Jeff still showed why he was among the elites. In a game like Street Fighter II, you have to understand that you could never go for the big finish, this meant that you had to zone, chip, space and control the clock to win. If you watch Jeff he does nothing but this.

These videos are not of the highest quality, however it is because they where mov and had to be converted over and then put on youtube. I would hope however that by watching this, you understand more of the concepts of how Street Fighter II should be played like.

Daigo (ST. Ryu) vs. Jeff (CE. Guile)

Here are some videos of Street Fighter II Hyper Fighting with guys like Watson again another OG SF2 Legend, again if you watch these videos, there's so much emphasizing on spacing etc, etc. Street Fighter II Hyper fighting to this day is the most polished 2-D fighting game of all time period.

Eric Choi (Ryu/Ken) vs Watson (Guile)

Watson (Ryu) vs Gooteks (Guile) *A Hilarious Bonus Stage Moment as well*

Again, Awesome thread, I will hope to upload more again in the near future.

Good vids. I've seen the Schaefer vids versus Daigo before but I'm going to watch them again. Tis a shame not many here appreciates other fighters but it is cool. Off to watching the vids you posted. :)
