I know that this topic has been beaten to death, but I have some theories and questions about the the wildly varying lag experiences of 3ds FG players.

There seems to be two contrasting online experiences taking place. There are quite a few players that have no issues at all, and a seemingly equal number that cannot play FG in any serious manner (I myself cannot find a FG match that runs at the normal game speed). This raises the question: What is causing a large portion of the player base to experience lag in most games, while others have a seemingly flawless experience?

It is well known that there will be some latency as a result of playing over an internet connection, getting as high as a few hundred MS. In my particular case, I feel that this is not what I am experiencing. I am very accustom to playing highly competitive games at 100 ms and I'd estimate that my FG matches feel like 500 ms or so. The type of lag also varies from game to game, sometimes there is insane input lag, but the game runs relatively smoothly, and other times the game is slow as balls with little input lag. I generally just SD out of the input lag matches, as it feels like my opponents do not suffer from it at all, and i get completely bodied as i cant shield or dodge. Regardless, I'm going to move forward believing that the natural latency of the system is not responsible for the horrible playing conditions.

Moving on.. Another common response to lag issues is that it is the user's specific internet connection. I have 30 down to myself, so I'm going to have to assume that my raw bandwidth has no affect whatsoever on my FG lag. The bottleneck is almost certainly not at the wall, but either before or after it.

Here are a few of my theories/questions on what may be responsible:
-3ds wireless hardware: Is it possible that my 3ds is the problem? I have an original 3ds (not the newer bigger one), and I question if its hardware is what is falling short. Has anybody had any experience related to this? Upgraded to the XL and experience an improvement in performance? Not having issues with the original 3ds?

-Wireless router: Possible but unlikely, as I have tried my 3ds on many different connections with no improvement

-P2P Always chooses the better connection: Does smash always choose the better connection as the host? Do these people experience zero input lag as a result? It certainly feels like this is true at times, and this would further dampen the experience.

-SD Card: I can't see why this would matter, but i'm running the game off of an SD card

Thoughts? Personal Experiences? Fixes?

Also, I'd be interested in trying some games with a player that does not have lag issues. I'm curious to see just how much of it is on my end.

Feel free to add me at 3282-4509-8322

I don't know how but I pray to god that Nintendo can somehow fix the lag problem...
