So, this is the problem.

In FF7, right around the part where you get to Kalm (Calm?) there is a screen where it just freezes and it won't load past it. I can't get past that part no matter how many times I have tried and it is freaking frustrating.

And in FF8...

In the part in disc 1 where you pass out in a train and you control other characters, the same thing happens about three screens later. It stays in a black screen and won't load.

What the heck is going on? I really want to fix this.

What are you playing these games on?
PC, PSone, PS2, or PS3?

If you are playing it the Playstation version, and you have at least two different Playstation consoles, i.e two PSone's, or a PSone and PS2, then try it on all of them.

If it doesn't work then it will probably be a disc problem, and I'm afraid I can't help you with that. Unless you try doing some more optional missions before going to Kalm, or if you can, visit another place that you've not gone to yet before you visit there, just to see if it'll freeze there as well.

The PS2 doesn't play those games well. You need to play 'em on a PSX.

yeah this happened when i played them on my ps2 it freezes on a certain area
its the ps2 not the discs
i bought 2 copies thinking it was the disc
what i did was put it on the normal playstation and it played fine
i don't have a ps3 but if it runs smoothly then go for it

Okay I just replayed through Final Fantasy 8, and I put a different set of CD's, and it passed the part I couldn't pass.

However... it is now freezing in a new part.

Could it really be the PS2? I have a PS3 I can play them in... but I don't want to start all over again.
