Final Resurrection is back with some tournament news! The wait for the next Smash 4 tournament is finally over. Final Resurrection: Phoenix Ascent is taking place on February 3rd. The location will remain at the Fairhope Public Library, and the procedures and prizes will be the same as previous tournaments. The rules can be found on the tournament registration site, which is included below. More and more players are coming from distant lands to challenge FR’s finest players, so the stakes are quite high this go around. Come and join us for some intense competition and a great experience in the Smash community. If you do plan on coming to the event, food will be provided in the picnic area behind the library for anyone who attends. Phoenix Ascent will be on FR’s Twitch channel, so be sure to tell anyone who can not come to tune in on tournament day!
Phoenix Ascent is not the only tournament FR is hosting in the month of February however. The players have asked, and the staff at FR have listened. Final Resurrection will be hosting its first Mario Kart 8 Deluxe tournament: Final Resurrection: Blazing Sparks on February 24th! The method in which bracket progression is determined is a little different from other single elimination tournaments, so please be sure to read the rules found on the registration website. The main difference is that instead of players competing in 1 vs. 1 matches, we will be using a four player free-for-all setup to speed up the bracket and contribute to the random fun factor (Mario Kart is not exactly the most competitive game by nature). The top two scoring player sin a set of four races will advance in the bracket. Also, players might want to try to get used to using a GameCube controller for Mario Kart, as this will be the only legal controller. This tournament will be on the same Twitch channel as the other tournaments. We really want to expand on the number of players and spectators at this event, so if anyone is interested in the event, be sure to encourage them to come! There will be plenty of playtime for everyone, and there will be other for fun consoles set up to practice or play other games.
