Hey, I'm new to this board,

Sorry if this has been asked before (the "search this fourm" button bought up 300+ pages of threads which had nothing to do with this)

I'm a Marth player (though I don't play at tournys or anything) and I'm okay, but my friend plays as falco and always dominates me. Is there anyway to get around Falco's spot dodge? it's crazy fast- I just normal A, he dodges, I do it agian, he dodges, even when I know it's going to happen, it seems like there's no recovery window I can hit him in. He always dodges all my dash attacks (or any attack) and then grabs me.

Any tips? Thanks

kill him on the lag or start a side b combo when you think he is going to spotdodge

ok........ i would just wait for him to come up to me by dash dancing, edgehogging, maybe do some sword dances so there are consecutive hits perventing him from grabbing you and marths range is bigger than falco's grab range so space your self so you wont get grabbed, you should be able to grab him at a certain distance where he cant grab you i suggest you watch matches of like ken vs pc or bombsoldier.. i dont know if this will help

Yeah, I try to hit him on the lag, but he dodges those shots too-- it's really fast.

The Side b combo is a good idea though (and somethign I didn't think about), thanks! I'll try it out

Honestly, if you're not extremely fluent and experienced at SSBM, spamming spot dodges will be a dominant factor in your matches. Sure, you'll probably see the best players in your area punish it like a second nature, because that's what it is; once you reach a certain skill level it starts to lose effectiveness because everyone is perfectly up to pace with the fighting in the game.

I'm sorry if i didn't convey that very well, basically what i'm trying to say is that you should just incorporate it into your own game as well, and when you get VERY good at the game, it'll finally start to lose it's effectiveness.

Yeah, that's true I guess-- It's just harder to spot dodge w/ Marth because his spot dodge is so much slower than falco's
