Now that i have you arrention i would like to ask for some help  .

I just wanted to try falco, but i seem to have a slight problem with Falcos wave dash for some reason.

I get the timing and i'll WD 2 or three times in a row then get one of those gay full jumps or triangle jumps in there to ruin everything and get myself killed. That or i'll just jump instead of WD is there Could it be that i angle the Stick wrong or do i am i just timing it wrong.

Would be helpful if there was a way to explain the lag time between when to jump and dash, Just wondering if anyone could give me a hand.

One more stupid question, is it easier to pillar by holding the Control-Stick and jumping in a direction then using the C-Stick Down for the DAir? Or using control stick only?

-Thx

My guess is that your are air-dodging too early. It's a problem a lot of people have when WDing with Falco. Doing a full jump is worse than accidentily doing a triangle-jump, so try pressing L or R later.

try to wavedash on slopes then go less steep as you improve.

You might not be pressing r/l all the way in. i used to do this too...but dont hold r/l in too long or you will shield u need to release it asap

Yeah i know that you mean I have this habbit of not keeping my finger in the R button and i sometimes miss the R on accident i've been trying to break some bad habbits, but yeah i know what u mean. I try to hit it later i cant seen to get the exact timing down perfectly yeah.

Thanks though for the input i'll keep practicing with it. Falco seems to be the only character that gives me any problems with WD and i need to fix that :S.

That's because Falco has a longer jump time than others, making his short hop extremely easy but making his WD a bit harder for people who are used to a shorter jump timing.

For example Fox and the IC's have a 4 frame jump... that is, they're on the ground for 4 frames after you hit the jump button. For a short hop, the jump button needs to be let go of before the character leaves the ground, so Fox and IC's have 3 frames in which to let go, making thier short hop hard. On the other hand, for a wave-dash, you just have to airdodge after the the character leaves the ground, so given that it takes a little bit of time to hit a direction and L or R, its pretty natural that the character is off the ground before you manage to input the airdodge.

For Falco though, he has a 6(?) frame jump... so while this makes his short hop a bit easier, you need to wait that extra time before airdodging... else the game reads a roll on the ground (since he's not in the air yet) but doesn't execute it because he's in the process of jumping... and then falco jumps because there was no input telling him to airdodge//wavedash. I think if you hit the jump as a short-hop when wavedashing (I tend to hold on to the jump button if its a wavedash since it doesn't matter and gives a better grip for hitting L/R + control stick) you will actually short hop when you miss the airdodge part.

Just a more technical explanation 'cause I think it helps to understand why something is happening wrong sometimes. :)
