A handfull of people have told me that Falco is a bad character. But me personally, I love him. Im just wondering on other people opinions.

Moved to the Falco boards.

I personally enjoy playing him, but I don't know how much viable he is competitively.

I'm back on the Falco train. I was off him in Brawl, but now I think he's viable. I'm definitely saying good.

Falco's still in the state of "being figured out", but right now people are saying he's viable.

There's a couple other threads on this: http://smashboards.com/threads/is-f...s-he-just-being-bashed-too-much.369429/unread.

And: http://smashboards.com/threads/nerfed-into-the-trash-can.381071/.

There's probably more in the other pages. Frankly, Falco's about as bad as Marth, Lucina, Kirby, and even Ganondorf in this game. They have nothing, absolutely nothing that they can exploit. Marth's tippers require a lot of precision and don't get the same rewards as - this is overused - Diddy landing an Uair or the Villager's Fair and Bair. Lucina's in a tougher situation without tippers, Kirby can't approach well from what I heard, and Ganondorf is reliant on punishing and reads. Falco? He's sort of like a faster Ganondorf with a projectile, a spacing game similar to say, Marth and Lucina, and the ability to go deep off-stage like Kirby. Problems? Mobility and range. Falco's fast when walking and falling, but moving in the air and running speed-wise? He's slow which means it's easy to juggle him if you know what you're doing or you have the range of Rosalina & Luma's aerials. Range is more of an issue of he can't challenge say, Shulk or Ike well. Hell, Falco has trouble with Luigi because Luigi also has fast frame data, but better ground mobility and better melee range.

Falco, Marth, Lucina, Kirby, and Ganondorf to me are the fundamentals characters. Everything they do requires mastery of the basics and that's all they get from it. No fancy techs like Peach's quick float release, Sonic's Spin Dash/Charge and throws shenanigans, Meta Knight's godplayer air game, Sheik's overall safety, or Ike's auto-cancel Fair and Bair.

If you want more, then there's the video thread to see Falco in action: http://smashboards.com/threads/good-falco-videos.376351/.

The general gameplay discussion: http://smashboards.com/threads/falco-king-of-the-birds-game-play-discussion.367184/.

And there's this which is as fancy as Falco gets (as of now) aside from frame cancels: http://smashboards.com/threads/phantasm-spike.380354/.

A character is only as bad as you make them be. I will lock this thread because other threads serve this purpose. You could have just asked in the general discussion thread or looked around on Youtube to see Falco in action or around the boards here to see what the players are doing with him.
