(If this technique isn't new; or is misnamed then please tell me)

When I was playing as Fox I noticed something interesting. If I Faired someone in the lower half of the their character, and Vectored down and stopped hitting them, it would leave them in hitstun. Now this might seem useless, but I tried it out in training, and figured out if you do it close to the ground: They would hit the ground, allowing you to go right into a side or down smash. I also tried it off stage; it didn't actually spike, but it sent the person downward; and if the character didn't have a good recovery it might kill.

Is there a video for this? I'd like to know more and see it with my own eyes what you are talking about.

I think this is what you're talking about:

Although the Bowser player isn't very good, it demonstrates how Guard here uses the F-air "spike" to bring the opponent down. When he sees that his opponent doesn't tech, he immediately follows up to F-tilt lock Bowser in place. This only works up to 3 times though: after the 4th f-tilt, your opponent just recovers immediately.

Found about this too, it's very good for easy Smashes. And people say Fox' F-Air is garbage. Ness can also do this with his F-Air.

It's possible with nearly every air attack with more than one hit to vector the enemy to the ground. It's possible with Greninja, Falco, Pikachu (Both F and B Air), Sonic, Yoshi (I have a really hard time with that one) and as mentioned before Ness.

I never knew it was possible to fair cancel with those other characters, gotta give it try, thanks LayingSnow! I like to this with Fox ALOT. It's a very bad habit, no matter how entertaining it is XD But I would only use it half the time when I'm going for the smash, because Fox's fair cancel can be predictable in the long run. When I mean to go into the smash, you can cancel into upsmash as well, or get some early damage with Fox's neutral (not his nair, but his standard A...is there a term for that? Still new to smash terminology XD).

B Air is better than cancelled F Air for edge guarding, but you can use your F air cancelling excellent for a following up smash. Just try it many many times on training with 3 chars (easy medium and heavy) while they're jumping and you'll have an excellent killing move or more combo potential (:
