I've tried and tried, and can barley do it at all. Every attempt is a full shine animation, or a changed direction after shine.

Anytips on how to do this?

He wants to shine one way and wavedash backwards, basically he is turning around in the shine because he is hitting the direction before jumping.

Ohhhh. That's a different story. You're hitting the control stick before you're jumping, causing you to shine-turn. You need to shine, then let control stick go back to neutral, then do a wavedash like normal. It's exactly like a backwards wavedash, except you need to have B pressed at the beginning. I usually waveshine with Y because it's such a short distance from B. My wavedash on the other hand, it typically done with X. >_>

waveshining forward is easier then backwards IMO.
Yeah, it is for me too. It's pretty weird, because normally, forward wavedashes and backwards wavedashes are about the same to perform, but when you do them out of a shine, backwards waveshines throw you off. =/

i'm begging to get it.

They reason I want to learn how to waveshine without changing direction is, when I wave shine I only have the option to, A. Shine again, B. Grab , or C. Upsmash. But with Backwards wave shining which only limits to Shining again and up tilting is a very good way to add up points at low percentages without moving the opponent to far away from the ledge.

If you wanted to work with utilts, you should DI a shffl'd dair behind the opponent, and then either shine > backwards waveshine combo or utilt > uair > bair if the uair doesn't kill them.

Shffl'd dairs are much easier to do consistently than backwards waveshines. You also have to be VERY careful when using backwards waveshines in battle. If you mess one up and utilt anyway, you'll be facing the wrong way and they might be able to get you into a nasty combo.

Unpredictability is what im always after. The less predicable I am the better chance I have at winning. I think if theres other methods to do something, regardless of how hard it is, you should use it. ( in a cycle )

Well, obviously you'd switch it up and throw in some mindgames. Backwards waveshines aren't too difficult, but there are other, more effective alternatives that won't leave you open because there's less of a chance of messing up.
Another fun use for the utilt is to edgeguard against Illusions from other spacies. =D Once you hear the "ping", wait like, a little bit and then utilt. They pop right into your foot and go into the air.

The only way around not being open is not messing up. I'll put in hours of dedication like I did before.

Again regardless of how hard something is, if there different methods use em,
it keeps you opponent guessing, which is always good. the less predicable you are, the better. or something along those lines.

I dunno how effective backwards waveshining to utilt really is. I mean, most of the characters either get pushed to far or fall from the shine. There's only a small majority that could be combo'd by a backwards waveshine into a utilt. Wouldn't it just be easier to turn around waveshine into a dash to w/e?

This is ment to be done at low percentages, also, even though theres a small majority who this can be used against theres no point in limiting yourself.

so so, depends on the situation.

Also fox's backside shine is the strongest. Good at shinespiking.

( Or is that only in the air? )

Too much DI for the utilt to lead into any great combos. Someone correct me on this if I'm wrong.

You mean hitbox? I think the range of the shine is just a bit longer backwards.
