Explain this KB reduction please

I have noticed this for a few years now. It happens when I input more than one SDI. SDI has no effect on KB but thats the only common denominator for these situations. Doc's fair should've killed me EASILY. Keep in mind on All-Star very hard, the level 10's (i call them that because they have different/better AI than level 9's) are handicapped so their moves are all stronger. Watch how the handicapped samus nair knocked me into next week. I have survived an offstage sheik fair at 150% before doing this. I was not crouch canceling. Any explanation?

Only explanation i can give is that you crouched without the ASDI down, which leaves you with only the reduced kb and no weird di or tech situation. That has happened to me on multiple occasions when i dont intend to cc but want to do something with a downwards input.

You can see i wasn't crouching though right? The crouch animation has to be completed to get the stun reduction effect also, even if I hit down at the last instant I wouldn't have been crouching in time. This happens to me while both players are airborne as well. I will continue to record until I get an example.

Looks like you crouched the fair imo. Pause the video to the moment where the in game clock is at 1:02:70, and you'll notice a definite change in ganons animation and what could be the start of crouch. The video quality isn't good enough to conclude it's crouching and not something else, but the trajectory also roughly resembles kb when crouching when compared to what ikneedata calculator shows.

This is not true, crouch kb reduction is effective immediately when you transition to either Squat (initial crouch) or SquatWait (full crouch) action-state. In fact, there doesn't even need to be a frame that shows you starting to crouch, because on the very first frame when you start the crouch, you transition to Squat before hitbox interactions are resolved. Thus you can start Squat and get hit on the same, in which case only the hit can be seen, but you still get the crouch effect.

Damn, so as soon as you hit down, you're cc'ing... All I've ever heard is you have to be crouching to get a cc. Good to know.

I will continue to record until i can get the bizarre kb reduction I've witnessed with both players airborne.
