...I take a look at my top three favorite pics of the day!

"Pic of the day. The pink sweatshirt looks really cool on Little Mac, so you can use that outfit in this game… How can a pink sweatshirt look so cool?"

"Pic of the day. Here's the trophy gallery for the 3DS version. You can rotate the trophies by drawing circles on the bottom screen. Super Smash Bros. Brawl had tons of trophies, but rumor has it that the 3DS version alone may have more than Brawl. Looks like the Dr. Wily that we made from scratch for the 3DS version is on his knees in disbelief."

"Pic of the day. Here's a Screen K.O. shot. There are also patterns where players will disappear into the sky for Star K.O.s, but as a match's time limit approaches, those K.O.s will not occur anymore."

These pictures alone remind me that even though my favorite characters like Sceptile and Tetra didn't make it in, or I didn't get event matches or target test, this game still has a ton of amazing stuff and it's a game to get hyped for.

So get hyped guys. The game is literally so close, the time of true excitement is on.

Yeah, but still, the most thing that disappionted me is the hidden characters, to much clones, gag characters, a few melee rep...... just so down.

Give it time. When the initial dissapointment has passed you'll be able to look at the roster with a clear head and realise just how great it really is. :)

this game has the least number of clones in the series barring 64 and only added in new clones, i dont think its too many, id rather have unique characters sure but in the scheme of things there are less over all

I agree, a lot of people (myself included) were hoping that the final roster would have something more that wasn't leaked, so It's going to take some time, but once we start getting into the game, we'll be able to actually enjoy if for what it is.

Let's see, 3 clones, 4 semi-clones, and Luigi. Not bad and not good.

Clones: Lucina, Pittoo, and Dr. Mario.

Semi: Ganondorf, Falco, -, Toon Link - can be argued -, and Ike - can be argued.

Luigi: Luigi.

In Brawl had no clones, but semi-clones: 7 of them.

Semi: Ganondorf, Falco, Luigi, Ike, Wolf, Toon Link, and Lucas.

Melee had 6 clones which is bad and one Luigi which is good.

Clones: Dr. Mario, Young Link, Ganondorf, Pichu, Roy, and Falco.

Luigi: Luigi.

64 had only one clone: Luigi.

Luigi: Luigi.

So, yes, it's doing fine compared to Melee, but I'd rather have semi-clones than straight-up clones.

Oh, and for Ike, here's my reasons: Ike shares Counter with Marth and Aether and Eruption works similarly to Shield Breaker and Dolphin Slash - they're vertical recoveries and a charged special attack. Quickdraw functions more like Fox Illusion, so it's more Ike's move than Marth's. Everything else about Ike is pretty much his own style of brutal and simple combat. This is why I say Ike and Wolf are similar as semi-clones whenever people say Wolf is a straight-up rip-off of Fox and Falco.

This is a fantastic thread. Nice to see some positivity and happiness around here!

These are my top five Pics of the Day, in no particular order!

«When Toon Link joins the battle, Alfonzo is in charge of the train. Alfonzo: 'Leave it to me!'»

«Along with Robin, Lucina joins the battle!! Her physical ablilites are identical to Marth's--it must be in her D.N.A. However, where Marth's power is concentrated in the tip of the sword, Lucina's attack strength is balanced throughout the weapon, which might make her easier to control. She's also a little bit shorter than Marth.»

«Uh-oh, someone's observing from afar. That's no good. The Yellow Devil will come flying in from the background.»

«And Palutena is joining the battle! She's using a lot of powers in the video we released, but these are only a few of the powers featured in Kid Icarus: Uprising. For more details, check out the Super Smash Bros. official website. ?www.smashbros.com)»

«A group shot of the big guys. How much bigger are they compared to Mario?»

We'll fight like Ike! Anyway, whenever people bring up Wolf is a straight-up clone or anyone else for that matter that became semi-clones, I bring up the Ike analogy in that characters have similar moves, but function differently or have different moves that function similarly.

Ike's and Wolf's specials resemble Marth's and Fox's, respectively, but they work differently and can function similarly. Everything else about them is different. Therefore, Ike and Wolf as semi-clones in the loosest terms compared to Falco and Fox or Lucas and Ness.

I can see where you're coming from and for some reason, I like it.

But I do disagree that Ike is a semi-clone. If anything, Ike is in the same position as Lucario where he shares moves with a certain character (aura sphere and side smash with Mewtwo) but that's pretty much it. He's not a clone in any way because if he was a semi clone, you'd have to consider a ton of other characters semi-clones as well.

I use Ike as a way to defend characters being called straight-up clones.

Also, yes, if Ike was more of a semi-clone than being close to being a semi-clone, then everyone's a semi-clone. Just look at Ness and Pikachu! They both use electricity! Therefore, semi-clones. Worst franchise ever. Link and Samus have bombs. Semi-clones. Peach and Zelda wear dresses. Semi clones. Blah blah... Blah blah blah...

Smash 4: 6 clones 49 characters 12.24% clones

Brawl: 5 clones 39 characters 12.82% clones

Melee: 6 clones 26 characters 23.08% clones

64: 1 clone 12 characters 8.33% clones

Why would you be down on the game in the first place?
Because the roster/game sucks and doesn't have Ridley?
There's nothing that can lift me up from this game anymore, I've accepted that it's not going to be as good as it could've been, and even though that's not OK, it IS how it is. No amount of great newcomers or cool mechanics could make up for the fact that this game has no Ridley.

I meant it more as a Lucario and Samus have a ball that charges, semi clones! Fox and Ike have side dashes, semi clones! Luigi and Pikachu both have a powerful chargeable blast off type move plus a disruptive projectile, semi clones!

That's what I meant.

I can understand the majority of people not being completely happy about the clones, but honestly they're fine by me. Fans and players will complain no matter what the roster is, or what each character's alts are. TBH I am slightly disappointed Ridley didn't make the cut purely considering how badly other fans wanted him. The game is going to be great, I think the roster is absolutely fantastic actually! The clones aren't a huge deal to me, and its not that I support clones but I think it's an effective way to give us more content with a rapidly approaching release date. The clones are just in there due to time constraints I would say, and they have absolutely no priority as characters to return in any future Smash games. If anything, I think Ridley and Paper Mario have the priority for Smash 5.
TL;DR people can complain but the roster is in reality fantastic, the game is going to be fantastic, we'll learn to love it even if our top picks like Isaac and Ridley And Dixie and Mewtwo and DEVIANTART SONIC OC OR WHOEVER didn't get in. I say this all with the utmost love for the Smash community tho <3

Fantastic isn't the word I'd use to describe the roster. It's satisfactory.

Smash might never have Ridley just like how it might never have certain characters no matter how much we want them. You have every right to be sad that your character didn't make it in, but if a single character ruins the whole game you might as well never touch a Smash game ever again. If there's a Smash 5, Ridley does not have an 100% of making it in whether Sakurai is the game developer or not.

Go ahead and cry about Ridley, playable or not he has a better role than Lucas, Wolf, Ice Climbers, Squirtle, Ivysaur, and Snake and Mewtwo. At least we get to see him in action. Some people have it much rougher than you.

We have 49 characters, with six or seven of them being clones, some of them being debatable. In any case, we still have a roster of over 40 original characters, I really see nothing to be upset about here.

I like this post. There are certainly some things I wished would happen, and there were a few characters I really hoped for, but c'mon. There's so many positive things about the game that they almost completely outshine what didn't happen. Heck, we even got daily updates, and that was something I never saw coming. If anything, I'm really grateful for the Pics of the Days.
It's a game I've waited so long for. I have no reason to not be excited. :)
