this is predominantly on With Anyone. given I've recently decided to take on Little Mac, most other macs i face on 1VS1are not very creative in recovery, most of which are jump to haymaker... so I'll often do dittos to see if they pick up on any tricks i use as him

I've decided, for the hell of it, to try showing this guy the Walljump to UpB recovery twice when the stage became Wily's castle. dunno if he got it, but he left afterward.

this is a silly question, I admit, but hey, who here actually tried to show off some handy tricks in mirror matches on !-on-1 4 Glory?

I think most people may find this really disrespectfull. First, choosing their Character may already annoys them. Second, like the example you mentioned, he instantly left afterward. Probably was thinking some kind of "yeah cool moves you ass" (:

Even if you never planned to play the douche, many could think. I wouldn't bother fight someone else instantly choosing same characters as me and trying to show off some cool stuff, too. Because that is what I would think of what he's trying to do.

I think they'd take it badly, since For Glory is anonymous... They wouldn't take it as teaching. Just as a **** you I'm better than you with that character.

Altruistic endeavours can go both ways, I agree. I'd personally be okay with it and would appreciate it, but I try to see the good in people and take things in the most optimistic and humble nature possible.

Whenever I do this I make it clear that I'm remaining friendly and only trying to show them a few things rather than flat out disrespect them. I self destruct when they do, I moderate my punishes if I have a comfortable lead, that sort of stuff. I can't say I've ever done a ditto or something of the sort just to **** someone up with their own character. There has always been a didactic purpose.

It's usually the opposite for me. I sometimes will switch to my opponent's character because I notice that they're good enough to teach me something. My mannerisms when playing hopefully make it evident that my intentions are amiable.

This usually rarely happens for me since I main Zelda and other Zelda players are far and few between on FG. That said, I've faced other Zeldas who tend to stay for quite a while which usually surprises me. While I don't stop all action to show them something interesting, I will incorporate my usual tricks in trying to beat them and will find, after a while, that they will start to get better, slow down, and begin reading me (Like Zelda ought to do) instead of rushing in with dash attacks so I would like to believe that I'm doing some good for them.

When it comes to non-ditto matches (the norm) when I'm facing someone I feel like I can teach, I'll usually swap between characters a lot so they can get a taste of all the different matchups for whatever character(s) they are using since constantly using my main against someone that isn't at my skill level seems rather mean to me (especially since Zelda isn't a matchup they probably need to learn given her popularity). I dunno if that's the way it comes off but I assume it does for several people since they stay for so long despite the fact that they are losing most of the matches. I can only assume that these people are there to learn rather than masochistic.
