I suppose it is rather difficult to find. It's basically at the same point as most of the stuff on the Wii U. Pure speculation. As these are modes from previous games they have been discussed many times over whether they will or will not come back. This is likely why you haven't had many responses is because people have already discussed it and moved on.
Until Sakurai says it's back, I'm going to assume they'll just have cameos in the exclusive mode like in Smash run. However there is a leak I believe on Reddit that says that each character has a unique target smash so if you like it you can go and try to find that. Might even find people discussing it.
