Back in August the Dreamhack team got Smashers around the world excited by posting a picture on Instagram of a Gamecube without any caption. The following day they posted a close up of the cover for Super Smash Bros. Melee and on August 21st the Dreamhack team announced that SSBM was coming to two separate events with a total of $50,000 in the prize pool. For those that don’t know, Dreamhack is the world’s largest digital festival (with Guinness World Records to prove it) and not necessarily a fighting game tournament at all. It is essentially the Woodstock of gaming and having Smash being invited to join their long list of events this year is quite the honor. The Smash tournaments will kick off this weekend September 19-20th, and is boasting a $20,000 prize pool with a handful of notable entrants.

Among the notable entrants is Alliance’s own, EVO 2015 Champion, Adam “Armada” Lindgren. Alongside the Swedish Sniper are a number of other serious competitors including Ice, who will now be representing his new sponsor mYinsanity, is arguably the best player in Germany and is looking forward to being recognized as a high-level international player. Vanity Angel, an English Peach player from Brighton, will be showing up and is currently sitting at number 3 on the United Kingdom PR. Number one on that PR is VWS’ Professor Pro who will be in attendance fresh off of his upset against Hungrybox at Paragon LA. Proving that he understands the Jigglypuff matchup, it will be interesting to see how he fares against Tekk who is beginning to be recognized as the best Jigglypuff player in Europe.

The one and only Eikelmann will be there to “eviscerate” his competition and defend his spot as one of the best Ganondorf players in the world. Finally, as if the already impressive list of players wasn’t enough, Tempo Storm’s own Westballz will be representing the U.S.A. and has just as good as a chance as the rest of these players to take 1st place and win $10,000. Not only is there a large prize pool on the line but the top two players in each tournament will be invited to Dreamhack Winter 2015. With all of this on the line, Dreamhack is on course to being one of the biggest Melee tournaments ever to be played in Europe.

Premiere trailer had an exceptional lack of Melee... Well, they are sponsoring $50,000 in prizes, so I'll give 'em a pass this time.
