European Melee Setup

HI there i'm from Europe and would therefore like to practice on PAL melee instead of the NTSC version. My current Gamecube setup is a Xeno modded Gamecube connected via a modded VGA cable into a CRT Monitor.
Since my setup can't run at resolutions lower than 480p is it recommended to force boot PAL Melee into 480p via the use of Swiss and are there any other options since my Gamecube can run backups via mini DVDs
