Error when trying to play online

Ok, I just downloaded Project64k to play online.

Whenever I open the emulator or click the button to start netplay I get an error come up that says "Direct3D failed to initialize your HAL device make sure you have a properly configured 3D graphics card compatible with Direct3D 6.0"

What is this and how do I fix it?

put your Display setting colors to Medium(16 bit) instead of Highest(32 bit)
