I've been thinking lately that we seem to be in some sort of crossover era with video games. I mean, crossovers have always happened, but I feel that the extent and amount has really surged.
Besides Smash Bros, now we have Mario Kart 8, Yoshi's Woolly World and Super Mario Maker all making plenty of crossovers. Games like Disney Infinity and Lego Dimensions exhibit countless crossovers. Upcoming indie games like Runbow and Hex Heroes feature characters from other indie titles, making them a sort of "Indie Smash Bros." It's like everything is just mashing together and part of me loves it and part of me wonders just how far it will go, with some trepidation.
