Request Emulation FPS increase by applying minimalist textures to characters/stages?

Might it be possible to increase emulation speed in a slow machine using simpler textures or any other type of modding? If so, could someone point me in the right direction?

It's usually not the textures slowing down emulation, especially not melee's low-ish res textures. Look into getting the Ishiiruka build, its very well optimized for low end machines.
