Editing the Announcer to say Player number

I made this post over on the customsmash subreddit as well, but seeing as how Smashboards is more active, I felt it would be good to post here in order to get some possible solutions sooner rather than later. What I'm looking to do is to avoid using character calls entirely, as some characters I've replaced either don't have calls or just won't work if I add their calls in with Sawndz. I want to be able to have the announcer state "Congratulations, player #!" based on who won rather than "And the winner is.... (character)". I know the game is able to draw from some kind of variable that will cause the correct clip to play based on the winning character, so I don't know if that could be applied with player numbers or not.

When I talked to one of my friends about it, I was told that I might have to hex edit in order to get the desired results, but I don't know the first thing about that. Is there something I should look into in order to accomplish this, or is this simply too complicated to do for someone with my level of understanding?
