Editing .gct files

I am trying to find a program that will allow me to open and edit .gct files. I have so far tried Code Manager, gctEdit, and BrawlBox's code manager. All have been unable to open any .gct files on my computer, but the .gct files all work fine in PM. gctEdit claimed that the files had the wrong extension I believe, but as far as I can tell they are .gct files.

Can somebody link me to a walkthrough or show me how to do this? Or explain to me why I can't open .gct files?

Alternatively, if someone could convert PM's gct into a txt I could edit it from there. That would at least solve my current problem!

Ok, so I managed to open PM 3.5's gct, but I can't open any copies of it. Is Windows changing the extension without telling me? It still says .gct even in properties.

How did you manage to open it? All of my programs(and I have all the ones you mentioned) freeze upon opening a PM gct. I can open another games GCT just fine though.

What I do is open the gct file with gctedit. After I open the file I save it as a .txt file.

You need to keep in mind that it doesn't change the extension automatically. So when it tells you to save the file as, make sure you save it with a .txt extension, not .gct.

After I use the cheat manager on the Brawl Vault Website and open the file. A lengthy process, but it surely gives you the .txt file you wan to edit.

Ok so I managed to open the file with BrawlBox's (.75b) code manager and save it as a .txt (after much fighting. Just copy paste the text, its easier). I then was able to add all my codes to one document and create a .gct out of that.

There were a lot of issues and I'm sure there are many other ways to do it, but I got it to work so I'm just going to go die in a hole now. If anyone wants to know exactly how I did it, I'll try to post instructions.
