Editable characters = NO editable stages?

One thing that concerns me about the Mii fighters is they will be all that's editable in the game. Which means no stage builder anymore.
I hope I'm wrong.

I read that as "edible".

Anyway, I doubt that's the case. I don't see a reason to remove stage building in favor of miis.

How'd you come to that conclusion? Thinking waaay too far there. Brawl allowed you to customize with stickers, yet a stage builder existed.

That's a fairly bold claim.

All that Mr. Sakurai has said is that you will not be able to turn stage hazards off. He has made no statement on whether or not a Stage Builder will be in the game. Furthermore, all that you can change about the Mii fighters is:

The special moves (12 options each in total)
Their apparel and accessories
And of course, their attributes by virtue of the Mii they are created from (big = slow and strong, small = fast and light)

That said, all characters will have 12 special moves to choose from, and all characters can equip up to three pieces of equipment. We have heard nothing else in regards to what we can or cannot customize.

It would be a shame if stage builder got taken out. Even with Brawl's limited options, it was still one of the best parts about the game. However, I don't see any reason why it would be removed, and if anything it will probably be expanded on.

With Miis and custom stage builder together, you can come up with some pretty great matches. Imagine Presidents Abe Lincoln and George Washington having a battle with all Pokeballs on the White House. Part of the fun of Smash has always been coming up with crazy custom matches, and I'm looking forward to taking advantage of all customization opportunities.

I loved messing around with the stage builder in brawl an making kooky stages. I really hope it comes back and has way more more options. I would be overjoyed if it did but I wouldn't be to upset if it didn't.

Let's just remember that brawl was so easily converted to PM BECAUSE of the stage builder. I think in sakurai's eyes it will seem as a failed project and he'll just drop it.

Stage builder kinda sucked to be honest. I mean you did not get much freedom on where to place blocks and you had a limit of how many objects you could have. You could not create big detailed stages without hacking and even with hacking it still gets pretty boring pretty fast. I stopped using it after about 2 weeks.

Kinda could care less if it returned.

I, too, read it as edible.

But yeah, this doesn't mean Stage Builder's gone. It might just only be on the Wii U version, hence not mentioning it yet.

Likely to be a Wii U exclusive feature.

The 3DS is graphically superior to the Gamecube, but the ability for it to manage CPU load sucks horribly. It is dropping frames all over the place in the demo build of Smash Bros, and they couldn't make an ambitious stage builder on such a physics-intensive product like Smash Bros. Not saying the 3DS can't have a stage builder. Games have had stage builders since the NES, for goodness sake. Rather, Mr. Sakurai has high expectations of himself, and will want to concentrate his energy on features that will thrive on the 3DS, like Smash Run.

The Wii U on the other hand, while not the most powerful hardware for today's standards, will have no qualms with handling all kinds of complex parts. Hell, the Wii U could have people fighting on a stage that is currently being built.

Good point. I'd threw away the stikers for a better stage builder. And I mean this <---B-E-T-T-E-R---> ! Maybe built stages will never be as great as offiocial ones but for online matches with friends they are fine.

I don't see why the stage builder would be removed. Especially since the stylus controls would make it much more easier and hassle free than Brawl's.

I would prefer edible stages. They're much larger than characters(except Ridley), so there'd be more to go around.

I can't stop laughing at the people using the word "edible" in the wrong way:

http://www.thefreedictionary.com/edible

Can you see your mistake now?

I think that mode was assembled too quickly. Look athe threadmills: When you enlarge them the cilinders stretch in an impossible way because, istead of making more models for the various sizes of the already few pieces, they applied the same enlarging algorythms to both of them.
I hope this time, IF they will include the stage builder again, it will be not the last thing they will take care of.

I agree on the stylus part. But I think the public reception on the previous stage builder (not really good) might influence their decision on making a new one.

I think the stage builder will be in the Wii U version and it will be greatly improved upon the Brawl version. I wish they would create custom stage themes based on the different game series', but I have a feeling they will be generic themes again. Probably because there are so many different possible themes across all the games represented in Smash.

If stage builder returns, I hope that players would be able to use the Final Destination mode of stages as bases to create new stages.

Well. I hope there will be more and more specific themes at least.
The ones used in Brawl were looking like they were trying to fit in every game. Resulting quite bland.
Thought, SSB4 seems more colorful than SSBB so, hopefully, the themes will be more colorful as well. And if we are lucky, there will be more than one background for each theme, or backgrounds will be not bound to a specific theme.

I hope there are more themes, too, and the option to select the background separate from the stage theme. I also hope it's possible to create stages that don't have to float, like walk-off stages.

I expected to hear the opposite. I would say that supports a stage builder rather than against it.

That would be a simple yet serious improvement.
Have you guys seen Mario Maker? It would be wonderful if the stage builder of SSB4 was as good as that. But I'm not sure Nintendo would make anything that could enter in direct competion with one of their own games.
Kirby has been safely digesting people since before smash existed, edible characters are nothing new.
LOL! Well played, pal! Well played!
