I just had this idea..lets say mario fights peach.
Mario gets smashed and is jumping his way back to the stage.
Peach does an edgehog and mario would fall to his death.

But what if mario could grap her leg?
mario could try and crawl over peach to get back on stage..
But peach could, like smack his face with her crown.
maybe if they struggle too long they both fall to death?

tho it would totaly beats the point of edgehogging..

well..whats your thoughts on this?
discuss.

Well it kind of does defeat the purpose of edgehogging and, in my opinion, it would make the game more complex than it really needs to be.

Maybe if you hit the grab button just as you touched the ledge, you would grab on. But I like edgehogging the way it is.

I think it sounds kinda fun, but yeah, it defeats the puropose of edgehogging, and I don't think enough casual players edgehog to insert this feature.

Not a terrible idea, but what I'm wondering about, is how edge hogging is actually going to work. I mean, I've heard speak of characters being able to roll into an edge hog. That'd just make edge hogging way too easy... and lame. We shall see though.

Oh by the way, I meant to welcome End Game earlier, so... Welcome to the forums buddy! You too r0b0fish even though you've been here for a good while now.

And what if it was possibly to beat an opponent to death with his own amputated arm?

Or seriously; I don't think it'll be a good thing for Brawl. Good idea, but not quite suiting. ;)

Hey, thanks. And yea i don't totally approve of rolling into a edge hog that much either and like Mr. Gaw said earlier; few casual players know what edge hog is anyways and we can always just short hop into an edge hog.

I think it's a cool idea. There's nothing more dissapointing that either barely dying because of an opponent's edgehog, and nothing less satisfying than gimping someone by edgehogging them. While I think it's cool, it's not really a realistic expectation IMO because it defeats the purpose of a game mechanic that has been around since N64. I think the only chance of this happening is if they introduce mid-air grabs.

I like edge-hogging the way it is. I don't use it in normal "play to have fun" fights, but if i were in a tournament, i probably would. Edge-hogging imo is something we've all had to deal with, or, depending on your main (Link or Samus), learn to grab the stage and get around egde-hogging. All in all, it should stay the same.

I agree with End Game about making the game too complex, cause then flying off the edge and coming back really wouldn't be a problem if you could just grab onto their leg(s). Cause if i grabbed onto someone, i wouldn't fight them, i'd just jump again to get back on the surface. So the only real way to kill someone would fall into whether or not they had high enough damage to kill with a smash. at least, i think so. anyone agree?

Obviously, you've never wavedashed into an edgeguard.
Not really. He could mean that he doesn't want just anybody to be able to edgehog, and that you should at least know how to wavedash to earn that advantage. Or at least jump, that takes a little more skill then just rolling toward the edge.

Even if it were implimented, it would have little effect. If you were trying to edgehog someone, the grabbing point would be lowered to your character's feet. right before your enemy gets there, though, you roll up onto the stage, making him miss your feet and fall to his death. That's what already happens; characters roll when the other one comes near so they are invinicible and still blocking the ledge.

The one place it would change things is in team matches. Then, you might actually go onto the ledge to save a teammate.

Thank you. I appreciate it when people take a second to think things through...
