Yeah I wish to know as well, I have a lot of replays that I do want to keep. I like to view my replays often to motivate me to play better since I replayed my first match online, than I replay a recent match and I saw how much I've improved.

This is a guess but can't you transfer them to your computer?!?

You can't put the SD card into a computer and drag them from the game folder? or it doesn't work that way?

Well the replays aren't saved as videos, but rather as the input data for the match. While there probably is a way to transfer this data onto a computer, there's no way to play it back (as far as I'm aware) aside from watching it in the Smash Bros vault.

Will the replays even be usable after the upcoming patch that changes characters?
No, it was announced that any replays made before the patch wouldn't be viewable. Hence the reason we're all trying to figure out a way to preserve our current replays.

Oh! Okay, my mistake. I thought this was more about trying to transfer it from system to system rather than backing them up.

I have a theory. I'm (based on Nintendo text) very sure that as it says; replays will not be playable from older versions. This means that they will be disabled not deleted. It's a great insult if an update or patch actually destroys a players personal svae data or part of it so I'm extremely sure it disables them, nothing more. For what I understand they will be there taking space but not viewable which means you can go to the system settings and delete the update to be able to reproduce them then at a later time re download the update. I have done this with Mario Kart 7 and Pokemon X/Y. Thou MK7 doesn't allow online if Ver 1.1 is not installed so I cannot say it does enable the shortcut exploits online. But I'm sure (Not gonna try it) that X/Y after deleting their patches and saving outside in the boulevards of Lumiose City will indeed crash your save by reactivating the Save Glitch. So for now I believe Smash replays are safe just not view able. These patches are small so if you feel like showing your friend to your side or uploading the via phone or other device you can delete the patch while offline. When you wan to go online it'll take only a few seconds to re download it and be back online.

I hope we have a way of transferring them, I have great matches saved, making them useless for the update made me not pick up the game for about a week, I figure I'll wait till the Wii u version and never look back, unless I need the portability.

Has anyone tried to upload to YouTube and download via a YouTube converter?
I've seen several videos that seem to have been uploaded by it, so I'm pretty sure it works.
I'm planning on trying it out myself, though, once I get a good video.

You can upload replays directly from the game to YouTube?
It was in one of the more recent updates.
Just go to replays, select the replay you want to upload, press "send", then "Post to YouTube and Miiverse".

I think it walks you through the steps after that, but I haven't uploaded anything yet, so idk

It's only for the Wii U version. Also you can't post anything more than 3 minutes.

Now that is one nice incentive to play the Wii U version more often.
