1. map jump to a shoulder button 2. while running (can also be done w/ same inputs from standing position) rotate control stick down and back (but not quite far enough to turn around), press grab and then immediately press jump. Your character should do a very quick wavedash in the opposite direction, barely leaving the ground.
"I thought wavedashing was bad in Ultimate, why would I do this?" Tbf it is definitely situational, given the relatively high end lag. However, it's the fastest retreating option for many characters. It executes and recovers faster than roll, moves more distance in less time than simply dashing*, and cancels momentum unlike jump. I see this mainly as a bait and punish tool and as a way of quickly changing position. Let me know if you have other uses for wavedashing
