What happened to the East Coast Regional Circuit?
In the early brawl days there used to be this circuit event that stretched all down the east coast. I believe ChipoSempai was a big contributing member to this. What happened to it? I remember we had big events all over. I remember the circuit had its own website and a smash group? Does it still exist? Do we still have organized regional events like this?
If we don’t I think we should certainly work towards recreating the East Coast Regional Circuit. Organized series of tournaments will make it more likely for us to get sponsored. It will also allow regionals to be successful as they will more likely have a date of their own for the event rather than having to compete with lots of locals all over. Also we could share resources to make it easier for TOs to run and manage.
The way I see it we have circuit sponsored locals in almost every state in the east coast twice a month or more. Then we have circuit regionals every 3 to 4 months. Of course we would need a point system, maybe have the point leader be guaranteed a prize payout at the finals regardless of their performance.
I also think it would be cool to do like game trade, shirt and accessories sales, and maybe even board game sales. Maybe we can partner with small eshops and sell their products as well as use them for giveaways and door prizes.
What do you all think? Any ideas of your own? Bad idea and won’t work?
