I've seen this video running around reddit or just browsing before and I have a couple questions.
  1. Is it possible to utilize this technique effectively to punish laggy moves?
  2. How dependent is this on rage?
  3. How dependent is this on weight/fall speed?
Personally, I'd like to see this used competitively to help Ike be better. Maybe Up-B OoS for a quick KO on sloppy shield pressure? Thanks!

So...uhm...first thing to answer...WTF happened? I've never seen it since now, so I can't really discuss its viability

I got three thoeries:

1. It's a fake... That simple
2. Rage?... Though I don't think so
3. It's got something to do with pikachus Down-B

Personally I think it's a fake... But can somebody try to reconstruct that

This can only happen vs. charged smash attacks. I'm guessing that probably happened the exact moment Pikachu was hit as the down-B ended and he tried to perform a smash attack afterwards.

Aether's initial hit scales really weird with rage, so it's pretty much entirely dependent on that. Add on Pikachu likely trying to use a smash at that precise moment, increasing the knockback dealt, and you've got shenanigans.

It might be worth keeping in your pocket on a stage with low ceilings.
