You have to realize, this isn't the E3 we have been seeing. It'll be MUCH more scaled back than last year and working towards very basic means any little in terms of the fanfare it used to get. This year though, I'd be willing to bet it'll still be quite large.
I would have to agree with you crimson. For the past two years I have attended E3.Even though it is enjoyable, and the games and atmospheric eye candy are amazing,I must agree with the change.Once you enter in either of the halls, you are instantly bombarded with light effects loud music and several uncessary things.I would typically get exhauhsted and had to get a caffinated drink of some kind.My bags were heavy with free shirts, figures and other miscellaneous game affiliated goods.
The loud noises and free stuff become very over bearing, and even communication with a cell phone becomes a difficult task.Even behing at the Nintendo Wii booth,I have seen people in lines waiting to play the Wii games, either to leave or fall asleep on the foot steps.Even walking down the main halls, everyone appears to be completely exhauhsted.Even food located near there is expensive beyond anything I have witnessed(3.00$ for a 20-ounce Soda? You wish). The only chairs and accomidations are near the east wing of the center,or the food court, and it is tempting to smell food and not buy it even though it's expensive.
I went to every day of E3 for the past two years. And it was fun,but I also suffered from emense pain and have had corns on my toes.I'm going to try to make it to this years event again(Last year I recieved my invitation for working in Q & A).BUt I hope it's sane, and alittle more quiet. The stress you suffer at E3 really makes you wonder if playing all of those new games are worth it.
The old E3 felt as if it lost what it was about; the games. It felt more like a materialistic affair rather than a professional eletronics convention.
