Smash Lord
Background:
Recently, my brothers and I were at a family gathering for Christmas so, naturally, we brought Smash with us to play with some of the younger cousins. My younger brother and I are the only ones who have ever spent a good amount of time getting good at the game, so after a good long while of noob stomping, we got bored of playing the normal "beat the living snot out of the opponent" game. So, we made up a new game mode. We called it "Dunkball".
How to play:
To play Dunkball, set the rules to time (around 4 minutes) and have each player (up to three people) select a character who has some sort of meteor or spike (semi-spikes don't count). Plug a controller into the last slot and select Jigglypuff (not as a computer player; as a fourth player with no one controlling it). Next, select a stage (we found that bigger stages like Dreamland work best). The object of the game (and how you score points) is to land the killing "dunk" (meteor/spike) on the Jigglypuff and to make sure the other players don't (by knocking them away / killing them). There is no way to lose points in this game because dying itself puts you at the disadvantage of your opponent(s) being alone with the Jigglypuff for a while. Whoever has the most points by the end of the time limit wins.
As a side note, we found that certain characters were better at the game than others (some too good). For example, we banned Falco simply because he can just spam his d-air for a constant spike 24/7 while other characters, for the most part, had some sort of wind-up before their dunks. We also found that Captain Falcon was perhaps the funnest character to play with because of he has two dunks (d-air and Raptor Boost), the second one (Raptor Boost) could be aimed better offstage, and his mobility just made things way more intense.
So, if you're open to this kind of (slightly competitive) casual kind of smashing, feel free to discuss how you like it / dislike it or how you think it could be improved / changed (For example, adding certain items, playing on special smash, etc.). If you're not open to this kind of smashing, feel free to move on to a different thread and have a nice day.
