Dtilt to Fsmash. Does this really work for you guys?

It seems people have been posting about the dtilt to fsmash combo.
They say it spaces perfectly for a bat tip (or near it) and tripping them gives you just enough time to do it.

How do you guys pull this off? Every time I try, I cant stop when I trip them and I pick them up again and when I try to fsmash, they escape.

Sometimes when I do trip them, I fsmash and they still escape somehow!

How often do you guys pull this off, and is it easy to connect both parts? I wanna learn this because its basically a fsmash tipper with the startup of a lowkick, but I think I am doing something wrong.

I usually do 1 dtilt hope it trips them then just let loose with the C-stick. Usually doesn't work but if I do more than 1 Dtilt I get carried away and keep going, or I just can't think quick enough to hit the C-stick. But I have pulled it off a few times to unsuspecting opponents.

This is a luck based combo. Sometimes you get lucky, and it works, and other times they roll behind you and punish.

I was hoping for tipper bats with the speed of the dtilt.

You can always just dtilt twice. That's what I do, but I don't do it often enough to say it works. lol
Like someone said, it's luck based. If you're trying to rack up damage, PK Fire to dash attack works nearly 100% of the time. If you're trying to K.O, I gotta say... bair works wonders and it's easy to land. Lol
