DS Screens Broken

Yesterday, I decided to bring my DS to school, because I was going home with a friend that afternoon. I slipped it into my backpack and had a decent day. I got to my friends house and immediatley pulled my DS out and started playing it. Wait... Oh God...

Yeah, the screen at the bottom had a huge black gape in the middle, and some of the top screen was depixelized too. I have a few options.

-Forget about the DS and Platinum (which I had JUST bought)
-Spend half my money on a new DS
-Save up money and spend 75$ to get a repair
-Look on Craigslist/Ebay for a new DS

Any other ideas?

EDIT: Oh, just found out that I'm taking care of a dog for all of Spring Break (walk it, feed it). My neighbor said she pays people a lot to take care of her dog.

I'm guessing I either dropped my bookbag somewhere hard (the DS was in the front pocket), or someone could have been messing with my backpack and accidently hit the DS.

Save up money for repair.
- Ask your local gamestop or whatever how much this repair would cost.

over 150. new DS
less than or equal to 75 => repair
between 150 and 75 => repair or if you rly want... a new DS

I typed in my DS's serial number, and my warranty was gone. It's 75$ for a repair.

unless you want to.... want start your Platinum from start again...

I think my friend also has a old DS Lite that he barely used and never plays anymore. Maybe I can buy it off of him for around 30$.
