Check the stickies before you make a thread that just simply asks a question about smash.

Yes, it is possible to shield grab Falco's down air to shine.

It doesnt matter if they l-cancel or not. Regardless of execution, there's always an opportunity to be shield grabbed in falco's dair to shine.

Crea, that's wrong

If you do the Dair as you land and immediately L-cancel, then you can never be grabbed before you can shine. You have 3 frames of leeway.

pillaring in general is not foolproof, there is always a small chance of being punished for pillaring. Take the dair shine repeat pillar, dair to early and you can get grabbed before the shine. Dair to late and you can get grabbed after the shine. The key to not getting grabbed is to mix up up your pillars, with late and early dairs and waveshines and such.

You can not be grabbed if your dair connects with their shield. If you dair > shine > dair perfectly, there are 5 frames of leeway between the dair and the shine. No character can grab within 5 frames. However, many characters can choose to 'buffer' rolls, spot dodges, and jumps within 5 frames using the C-Stick.

Yeah I believe Fox's is 5 or 6, and although if timed perfectly it is hard, people are not always frame perfect, and as a result you can exploit that.

Actually, I believe the fastest grab is 6 frames.

And yes, if you do the dair at the last possible moment and shine immediately after getting the l-cancel, you cannot be grabbed. You can however be grabbed before your dair even comes out if you wait too long to perform it.

i agree with this ^. people will just find the biggest gap (wherever you place it) and grab there. its not like SGing is a hard thing to time...
