Downloading to my Wii

Hello, I'm interesting in offering Project M as a tournament at my library where I work, but I have a few questions about downloading PM to all of our Wii's.

1) Playing PM will not delete or alter my Brawl savefile right? I want to make sure my fully unlocked Brawl save files will not go away.
2) Will all the characters and stages unlocked in the PM download, or do I have to unlock all of them through game play?
3) What kind of legal trouble am I getting into by doing this? If I download the non-hacked version that requires a legal copy of the game, I feel like that should keep me fairly safe.

Thanks!

1. P:M does not delete save files, and the only thing altered would be smash records as those are a constant between the two.
2. Yes, everything in P:M is unlocked from the start. If you haven't unlocked all the characters on a brawl save file, you may still encounter challenger approaching battles.
3. As long as you own the disc and aren't selling and redistributing the mod, then there isn't anything inherently wrong with playing P:M.
