Downloaded 3.02, none of the Loaders work. Homebrew Version.

I know there's a bunch of other threads on this but I've found nothing that seems to answer the problem. I've also searched outside of these forums and found nothing definitive either.

After downloading P:M 3.02, I performed the same steps that I did for the older versions manually (ie. opened archived file, removed old files from SD card, replaced them with the new ones).

Unfortunately, for whatever reason, none of the Loaders that previously worked fine no longer work. After trying to run them, they all sit at a black screen for a bit, or show their respective splash screen very briefly, before sending me back to the Wii menu.

As a 'last resort' I tried the official P:M Launcher, but that either hangs or does the exact same thing when I select "Play". There's no errors when I select "About", and when I select the "Update" option it mentions a 1.4 version of the launcher, which I update to. Still nothing.

I'm really frustrated because I was hoping to just play with the recent balancing changes but now I can't even play the game itself. Had I known this would happen I would've just kept the older version of the hack. >__>'

EDIT: And yes, my SD card isn't locked. At least, the tab is at the top, not the bottom.

I have run into a similar issue today. Made some changes to my build and now whenever I select "Play" on the Launcher, it just sits there on a black screen for about 10 seconds and restarts my Wii. I've set everything back to the way it was yesterday (without any of the changes I made today) and still nothing.

1. The only time I've had this happen is when my "codes" folder disappeared. Check to see if it's at the root of your SD card and that it has a file named RSBE01.gct in it. Make sure that it is the newer version and not from the previous build you had installed,

2. If everything in "1" is correct, then you should reformat your SD card. On Windows, make sure to uncheck quick format. On a Mac, tell Disk Uitility to do a secure format (zero out deleted files). It should be formatted as FAT with a 32k allocation size. After that, follow the PMBR's official installation instructions.

3. If "2" doesn't work, as a sanity check, redownload Project M and try "2" again.

4. If that still doesn't work, you are either not following the instructions carefully enough, or you need to try a different SD card.

I've done everything and I'm still having the same problem. I know that Project M is installed correctly because I have been using it for months. I'm starting to think something is up with the Loader.

EDIT: For what it's worth, my problem is with the hackless method, not homebrew like the OP.

Actually, I was just about to make a thread with this issue just now (Oh boy another one), instead I am having something even wierder... When taking the files straight from the PM site, putting them on a freshly wiped SD card, then using it on the Wii, instead of restarting the wii after a black screen, it instead loads up vBrawl. I have asked my friends (I tested it on their Wiis, I dont have one) and even tried the launcher AND the homebrew loader. On another friend's wii, I loaded the hackless version via Stage Builder, and still the same exact result. Later that month I have attempted on my other friend's wii who has homebrew (Wow, you really need to buy yourself a Wii...) and *you wouldntve ever guessed* it happened AGAIN.

After several attempts on each and searching around via google (the only other people I found with this issue were youtube commenters on a tutorial), I thought that the SD card was not supported, but then I remembered that I used PM on it before (the sd card was for my 3DS, but i removed it for space, AND I know this works because I did this for my friend).

I have not attempted it for several weeks due to the sheer frustration of it not working when most desired, and because I do not have my own Wii (well-). I am at wit's end, no more sanity allowed. How can I fix this? :hulk:

Try using Gecko. Pay attention to what it says after you launch the game. If it says "no codes found" then the problem is your codes folder (and thus, your GCT).

You could also try a different SD card (make sure it is 2GB). Even if yours has worked before, try a different one. Like all electronics, SD cards can go bad. I've even had some that worked occasionally, but sometimes didn't. Get a name brand one, or use the one that came with your 3DS. Gamestop sells them for $3 if you want to try a different one.

Try using a different loader, like Gecko. If that doesn't work, try downloading a custom build that has its own loader (Like Theytah's or Pat's). If none of those work, the problem is probably your SD card

Went and formatted the SD card (made back-ups of old files just in case) to the specifications listed, and I followed the instructions. Codes folder and all the others are where they should be.
Same thing occurs.

I'll come back after I try another SD card.

By the way, is it normal that it's asking me to update to another version of the launcher (1.4)? I tried it again, both with and without the update, and since I'd only read about it asking to update if the actual mod was out-of-date, I wasn't sure if it was something I should be doing.
That being said, considering it's part of the official launcher, I don't see why it wouldn't be a problem.

EDIT: If it makes any difference, my Wii is a PAL one, but since I managed to get first running P:M for about a year and a half now, it would be strange if that was causing any issues.

I am 99.9% sure this is your problem. Project M isn't made to work on a PAL Wii. I have no idea how you managed to get it to work before using a PAL disc. There was a guide on how to do this, but apparently this method doesn't work anymore. Sorry about that...

Sorry, I meant to say that I used an NTSC ISO file of Brawl on the USB, I used to get it to work using USB Loader GX, but it was when that method stopped working that I started noticing something wasn't right.

I can't remember if that was the using the same method as before, but the thing is that none of the other apps seem to currently at all, so I'm not sure if there's a way to troubleshoot the issue.

If there's really no other way for me to get it to work, then I guess the only option is to buy a US Wii and a copy of Brawl. :(

Oh....wow. I feel really dumb now.

As it turns out, when I transferred the files form Project: M onto the SD card, I mistakenly deleted USB Loader GX 3.0, too.
All it took was finding the program again and putting onto the SD card again to get it working. >__>

In any case, that's for the assistance, guys. I appreciate it.
Is it worth leaving the thread open for anyone else who might be having similar problems?

Well, this thread is the perfect example of what can happen if you leave out important details: even the people who know how to fix your problems cannot help you because they aren't hearing the whole story. Booting from an ISO and booting from a disk are two very different things. The region of the Wii/disc you are using is extremely important too.

Anyway, I'm glad you got it to work!

By "tried everything" I also meant using Gecko. As a reminder: I have used Gecko, attempted both .gct files (because I noticed that "no codes found" error when attempting that way), the PM Launcher, and the hackless method. I also do not have a Wii, and the SD card I was trying this on is the exact same SD card I used on my 3DS (As I clearly said in my post: "I thought that the SD card was not supported, but then I remembered that I used PM on it before (the sd card was for my 3DS, but i removed it [as in PM] for space, AND I know this works because I did this for my friend [my friend is using his old 3DS sd card that I set up for him])."). This worked before I updated to 3.X, which annoys me as to why it is not working now. As for the GCT files, I attempted with the same exact GCT file on Dolphin, which works completely fine on Dolphin, along with the ones on the download page.

If I did not say it before: I also tried using PM straight off of the download page, which is where I started testing with different GCT files and loading methods...

Also since I do not have a Wii (and I am unable to get to one due to no working vehicle) I am unable to test until said Wii is accessable, but all known launch methods and even formatting with Windows formatter and an SD card formatter (Forgot the link/site) have not given a different result, only delaying the time it took for the game to inevitably crash.

Then clearly say so. It's not possible to tell what someone means by "tried everything." If someone had truly "tried everything" they would have found the answer to their problem. Anyway, here's your issue. The game isn't detecting your RSBE01.gct in your codes folder. Are you using an NTSC Brawl Disc (on an NTSC Wii)?

I also do not have a Wii, and the SD card I was trying this on is the exact same SD card I used on my 3DS (As I clearly said in my post: "I thought that the SD card was not supported, but then I remembered that I used PM on it before (the sd card was for my 3DS, but i removed it [as in PM] for space, AND I know this works because I did this for my friend [my friend is using his old 3DS sd card that I set up for him]).").
Look, I'm trying to help you. No need to be rude about it. I have no way of knowing if the SD card you use on your 3DS is the same as the one that came with it. Sometimes people remember things incorrectly or leave out information (like OP did). Trying it on a different card is part of the debugging process. When you debug something (regardless of what it is), these are the types of steps you take to quickly find the source of your problem.

Yes, all of my friends use NTSC Brawl disks on NTSC Wiis. They are also using different methods for loading their PM mods, and even tried helping me on the spot. When showing them my issue, they all gave up since we attempted all possible methods, even with the mod downloaded straight off of the site when we tested it.

The game isn't detecting your RSBE01.gct in your codes folder.

I have no clue how this is possible, since the first attempt used an exact copy of the mod from my Dolphin SD card, which works with no problem on Dolphin Project M.
Look, I'm trying to help you. No need to be rude about it.

For my main post, I am pretty sure I noted using my 3DS card, but I am not here to argue about my posts because I know that other posts I made do not sound clear when attempting to go in detail (I suffer major fatigue when typing, which frustrates me because I am a programmer and feel like I shouldnt be suffering like this). I apologize for the rather crappy handwriting...

And with all of those responses, I am unable to test in quick succession because I cannot access a normal Wii, which could take a few days (provided I can magically get to the local biweekly this weekend, if not then way longer).

Any way to use a NTSC-U Brawl image on a PAL Wii?
When I try so it half loads P:M onto my Wii - the character select is P:M but everything else is vBrawl. And it crashes.

How do I format it with a 32k allocation size. I'm trying the "erase tab" in disk utility on my mac just for the record. I'm not exactly sure if that's the same as formatting. My computer says that the SD card is FAT16, does that have anything to do with allocation size?

Just to let you know, these are the settings I'm using while formatting:
