Download play and other features.

What do you think are the chances of download play being used in Smash 4? Personally, I think it's low. They won't alow download play so they sell more copies. That's what I see happening. Also, what're your theories on the "Streetpass" & "Wiiu" buttons on the main menu? Do you think maybe you can get new trophies or even unlocks through street pass? Maybe you're able to transfer data from your 3DS to your Wii U. I want to hear your thoughts. :3

I would love customization parts that are available only through streetpass. Like, if each copy gets one of several exclusive parts to start and when you pass by someone you get a ghost of theirs to fight and if you win you get the part... that'd be rad.

But yeah, download play is almost impossible. Something like Mario Golf didn't even have it so sadly it won't be in this.

I don't see what's so impossible about it seeing as both star fox 64 3d and Mario kart 7 both had excellent download play options.

Both were very fast moving, action based games and worked fantastic with multiple people.

I really don't know what they will decide on this. I think it is most likely not going to happen because the game is nearly out in japan and we haven't heard anything about download functionality.

Honestly I think download play would boost sales, if you could only play as Mii or Mario or something. The downloader would want to experience the whole game not JUST Mii or Mario or whatever.

But they would only be able to play with limited character selection, so they would want the whole game. Download play/demos only carry you so far.

I think there's more to the Wii U button than most think. If it was just character info transfer or whatever I don't think they would feature it on the MAIN section of the menu. As for StreetPass, I think you will be able to send a 'ghost' of your main to other players, and that ghost will learn from how you play, like Amiibo will for Wii U.

I think download play is in smash 3DS, but probably the one downloading would just have the starting roster or Mii Fighters to pick.

Considering that Mario Kart 7's download play only allowed you to play as a single character/kart set-up and Super Smash Bros. just isn't the same game where they can limit a player to a single character and still offer the same experience, I just can't see Download Play working well for Super Smash Bros.

Also, Super Smash Bros. is a bit more taxing on a System then Mario Kart is, believe it or not, since a lot more variables have to be kept track of then in Mario Kart.

Yeah, but I'm pretty sure in Kirby Triple Deluxe if you got the digital version you couldn't multiplayer Kirby Fighters.

I'm not surprised, I never expected Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS to support Download Play since its too big of a game to work without downloading a lot more data then normal.

I'd love for Download Play to be an option, but then again, basically anyone who likes Smash and has a 3DS to play on will own it.

Streetpass, no idea, though there's speculation that it's related to the weird bumper-pin game shown in one of the trailers.

Wii U, transfer customizations, and hopefully at least an option to transfer characters, name records, and whatnot.

Streetpass would be cool if it gave the New Challenger Approaching screen with person's name you are connecting with. Then you would fight their ghost or some kind of minigame. Or it could be similar to P2 pressing start during arcade mode in fighting games. You just jump into a battle. There could be a do not disturb too.

The only connectivity with the Wii U could be Mii transfers (confirmed) and name transfers w/ custom characters. It would also be cool if you could take your Amiibo from the Wii U and transfer it to the 3ds so you can level it up on the go

Yes, that would work. I was speaking as if download play let you play as any character. But it doesn't matter @ B Beczam1290 gave us info deconfirming Download Play.

Look up "3ds smash bros Japanese preorder packaging translated" and you can see that image that told us the file size.. I'd post a link, but I can't yet - too new.

See the bottom? "Each person needs a copy for local play." That may not specifically say "no download play" but I'm willing to take the hint.

This thread was created before that was out though, but yeah, I don't think there will be download play because of that.

I used to be in that situation but then I went away to school and it was like streetpass central. I hope it's something like trophy trading and possibly, if the game tracks how you play, like a CPU based on that person's customization and fighting habits. Could be fun!
