Is this even a thing? I do this on other characters other than spacies but if it is a thing, what percent should it be done at?

It's DI dependent. Unfortunately, it's such a long animation that they can just DI away and you won't reach. Your best bet is to punish with a wavedash fsmash, until they stop DI'ing away then sneak in a rest.

Anyone and everyone can DI away if you dthrow, they will only be rest-able if they flub the DI. Uthrow to rest is better (actually the best) on spacies.

You CAN do some silly shenanigans if you dthrow them and you're close to and facing the ledge, many people will reflexively DI back (AKA the wrong way), allowing you a free rest at low-mid %s.

If they are at high enough percent, yes they can DI, but they will be high enough where if you follow up close enough you can throw out a short hop to up air and lead into rest or any other move.

Also on a related note there is a tournament where Hungrybox actually looks down at Mew2King's controller to see where he was DI'ing so he could rest him successfully, and it worked ! : )

at mid-high percents doing in by the edge can be good because they have to di in, and you can have a potential rest, or di away and go off stage to be edge guarded
