Not really. It's really slow and punishable. I mean when you hit with it yeah it's great. But if you don't you're screwed.

The fact that it's slow is what makes it a great tool against sweet spotting. I haven't had much chance to test it, but I think it should work:

Due to it's multiple hits you can time it so that the second (or third?) hit will connect as your opponent loses their invincibility. Since they have no choice but to sit on the edge till invincibility runs out (correct me if I'm wrong) they also have no choice but to take the hit, and at higher percents die.

Hmm... I've done it once or twice but i'll definitely try it some more. And I think you're right Brookman, you have to stay on the edge until invinc runs out, from what I've experienced.

Nope, Been using Down smash on edges since release. My original thought was this post, it hits 4 times it's gotta force them to stay till frames run out. They simply grab edge and instanly jump up. Jumping grants you invins frames as well.

P.S. This move does work well though on some larger characters wehn they are trying to smash attack back from the edge or get up.

once again all opinion but go on.

yeah it's good but punishable like godly up smash
and if you're on the edge jumping/rolling/attacking all give you additional invincibility frames

Some characters' invincibility frames expire before any hitboxes can connect or they can get anywhere. Lucas' getup attacks are punishable after the invincibility frames expire and before his hitbox comes out, for example.

D-smash has a surprisingly large hitbox, but eh. I don't make very much usage out of it.

And they could also just drop and regrab or fall backwards and jump around.
In order to do this they have to wait till they lose invincibility, and in that case I think down smash will connect before they can drop. I'd test this out but I don't actually own the game myself.

So please, do some homework for me :D

Brookman, this simply isn't true, you can get out of it by ledge jumping immediately with invincibility, or if you're about to lose invincibility, simply ledgedropping. Ironically, I know this because yesterday I was playing against another lucas that seemed intent on using this particular technique.

There's your homework.
