Doubters for Smash on the 3ds/ds?

Hey everyone, just a simple question. Does anyone know if there were people doubting smash being on the 3ds/ds before it came out? If the answer is yes, what were some of their arguments against the idea?

I think you should have put this on the Pool Room, but I'll state one of the reasons why.

People thought that the controls for the DS/3DS wouldn't fit well for a Smash game, and that's because they didn't know that the latter would have a 360° control pad.
