I love Doom, but come on, are "we" starting to run out of ideas for a joke topic? Well, this was intended as a joke topic right? If so, I don't see the funny like in the Metapod topic.

DOOM Marine is summoned during berserk mode, punches your character who effectively die as your body explodes.

Come on, if Dr. Wright is introduced, it could mean just any one can be introduced! Or something like that.
Dr. Wright is the icon of SimCity, which is a very big franchise, one that started many spinoffs as well, and sprouted many big ideas. He was in multiple games, unlike your Marine. Dr. Wright is important in his series, unlike your Marine.

So this thread gets a no. :D

Uh.. in response to the ^ post.. he pretty much is the icon of the Doom series, which is a big franchise as well, I'm not sure if it had spin offs, but it did inspire many games, he was in many of the games, and he is important in the series, being the main protaginist.

Still, its not like I'm suggesting he'll be a playable character, oh hell no.. simply an AT. He doesn't have to be owned by Nintendo to get in, though I imagine it would have raised his chances of being an AT if he was, he simply has to have been on any Nintendo console to get in(correct me if I'm wrong on that statemet), which he was, the Super Nintendo.

Snake isn't getting any guns because of the realistic violence. You think they're gonna let the Marine in? Yeah. Right.

From what I read, they had to tone down the Doom port for the Super Nintendo, so why not tone down the Doom Marine himself? Like they've done with Snake? It could work, just have him have laser guns, or use his hairy fists of pwn?

So you are serious about the Doom Guy getting in Brawl as an AT? I think it's time for me to shut down the arguments.

I should also note that Doom appeared on the N64, which unlike most of the ports, was a new game. Also, there were Doom ports (with toned down violence) on the GBA. However, most consoles had a Doom port, so other then Doom 64, it's not like Doom showing up on the SNES and GBA is anything worthwhile.

I'm fully aware that Doom is very popular in that it set quite a bit of milestones for gaming, at the very least, making the FPS genre as big as it is today (hey, it's not like there wasn't other FPS games before Halo). Despite how weak the Doom engine is and there being far more advanced games out there (including Doom 3), people to this day still make mods and new maps for it.

It sounds like your arguments are mostly based on the fact that Doom shown up on a Nintendo console and that the series is massively popular. That's still IMO, not good enough to be an AT. Basically anything the Doom Guy would be allow to do (which isn't very much if they strip most of his weapons) could easily be done by many other characters out there. Also, while you keep bringing up how popular the Doom series is, you have yet to bring up how Doom is in anyway important to Nintendo or helped changed it. Take that into factor and throw in the fact that Nintendo would have to go through the trouble of contacting id and possibly paying a little bit of money, all for a character who done very little for Nintendo (and hardly an icon for them) and would be so limited in what he would be allow to do that the trouble in getting him as an AT would hardly seem worth it.

Ya, I too would like to see someone say how Duke Nukem could make it in based on what, one Nintendo game that also happened to be heavily toned down in mature content.

Okay i like Doom though i doubt the main character will get into Brawl either as an AT or a playable character. though heres my view on how they could fix the problem of the realistic guns= violence even though he probably won't get in.

1. he could be in beserk mode and one punch could send the opponent flying (hes really strong in that mode)

2. he could also wield the BFG and/or the plasma gun (both non-realistic weapons....... i think) the BFG could be a one time attack shoot it every one on the field goes flying off the screen. The plasma gun could be like the super scope but can't charge up and fire.

3. he could wield the Rocket launcher like Snake has shown in the trailer.

4. he could shoot lasers from a futuristic pistol (doubt it)

yes i know this was a joke topic but im just getting that out.

also why include snake since he is just like the Doomguy in the gameplay violence?

i don't count on him being in the game though :ohwell: :urg:
