Hi. I've been here for awhile..reading all this stuff..finding out about the roster and quite abruptly slamming my head on the computer desk.
After going outside and screaming at the top of my lungs (cue for Dramatic pull back shot of "Whhhhyyyyyyyy!!!!!!") about the moderately disappointing character roster, an arrow of inspiration hit me on the head.
While it seems that most of us are disappointed about the roster, as the thread title says....
Don't lose hope...yet!
Remember the fact that Brawl comes out in America a little over a month later than in Japan? Is it possible that they could squeeze some characters in between now and later? Or maybe something else?
Going off of basic facts, outside of extra copies of the english version of the game being produced, I don't see a month being coincidental. I see it as a hint.
The game is, for all intents and purposes; done. They've recorded english voice overs already (as hinted at by the Snake & Otacon/Colonel conversations), shown us enough clips, gave us a demo awhile ago and everything is done-done-done! Why for the month?
I think the strongest arguement here is that they're doing something in that month. Maybe adding a character or two? If I think about it, the one character that is truly missing here is that blue chick. Fox. Thing. Whatever. You know who I'm talking about.
She's got the strongest arguement here. Somebody found the voice actor's page, detailing her. If she's not a playable character and she's listed, she must have had a significant role in story mode. If this were true, I think we'd have seen pictures and I don't think the main dude would be up for creating new story clips in a month.
Another thing is that folks? America does occaisionally get new content over the Japanese, thanks to the later shipping dates. Kingdom Hearts didn't have Sephiroth in it. Final Fantasy 7 Didn't have those big dragon guys. America got the Wii first.
So my message to my disappointed smashing brothers, just hold on a little longer. Skurai may have pissed alot of us off with not having our favorite there, but just wait and see over the month we wait that anything surfaces.
And there's also the fact that the Japanese simply haven't unlocked everything yet. Remember, Melee took a little bit to unlock every little nook and cranny. Give it a few days before we settle on a confident roster.
I said it once, and I'm saying it again.
