Dolphin GC Controller Won't Pick Up

So I have a Mayflash adapter using a GC control to play Melee on dolphin and it recognizes my controller fine, but when Melee starts when I press "A" on my control nothing happens. I press start nothing happens. But when I switch the control in dolphin to keyboard and press enter the game recognizes that and it works. I need help on my GC control to work please
