DOLPHIN CONTROLLER HELP!!!!!1!!!!

so i bought a new generic gamecube controller for my computer and when i start inputing the buttons i noticed it wouldnt input the left nor right c stick. i later input it on my friends computer and it worked perfectly. i have a mac and he has a normal windows. how can i fix it
