Dolphin configuration troubles

Hi, I am new to this whole deal and just got the official Nintendo adapter to try to play PM on my computer. When I try to configure anything on Dolphin it doesn't pick up any of my inputs. I am using the Gamecube USB adapter driver (v 3.2.1) as a tutorial I am using called for. I got Dolphin to pick up a ps3 controller through DS3 tool but it will not pick up my GameCube controller through the Nintendo adapter. Please help!!

I honestly don't know what happened. I got help from a more experienced friend and when I tried to configure the buttons it detected the inputs so I have no clue what happened.

if you're using the official nintendo adapter, you should be in direct connect btw, no configuration screen.
